OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 12, 2024 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will present Canada's top visual and media arts honours to outstanding Canadians during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.
The Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts recognize eight artists for excellence: six for distinguished artistic achievement, one for excellence in the fine crafts (Saidye Bronfman Award), and one for outstanding contributions to contemporary visual arts, media arts and fine crafts. Through the exploration of various themes, subjects and artistic styles, the recipients' art encourages a greater understanding of our history, our cultures and the experiences of others.
