OTTAWA, Nov. 22, 2019 /CNW/ - At the request of the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will visit Lithuania from November 24 to 26, 2019, and Estonia from November 26 to 28, 2019.
The visit will underline Canada's deep-rooted partnership with Lithuania and Estonia, and provide an opportunity to explore areas for future growth. The visit will also showcase Canada as a world leader in scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship and culture.
To strengthen the people-to-people ties and promote various aspects of Canada abroad, the Governor General will be accompanied by a delegation of Canadian experts in these fields

Visit to Antakalnis Cemetery
The Governor General will visit the Antakalnis Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Monument to the Victims of 13 January 1991, which honours all those who lost their lives in the struggle for Lithuania's freedom and independence. Upon arrival, Her Excellency will be greeted by Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Antakalnis Cemetery was established in 1809 and is the final resting place of soldiers, politicians, and renowned artists and scientists.

Upon arrival at the school, the President and the Governor General will visit a classroom where students will be programming Micro:bit computers using laptops. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session with the students.

Performance at the Arvo Pärt Centre
The Governor General will attend a performance hosted by the Estonian Government and the Pärt family. The performance will feature Estonian Collegium Musicale Chamber Choir, Estonian pianist Mihkel Polland and Canadian violinist Kerson Leong; and will highlight Estonia's strong musical tradition.
