OTTAWA, March 28, 2019 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will welcome His Excellency Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel, to Rideau Hall on Monday, April 1, 2019, on the occasion of the President's State visit to Canada.
The detailed itinerary of events involving the Governor General and President Rivlin can be found below:
9:40 a.m.
Official Welcoming Ceremony
An official welcoming ceremony, with military honours, will be held at Rideau Hall. The President of the State of Israel will conduct an inspection of a guard of honour. Both the Governor General and the President will deliver remarks on this occasion.

Ceremonial Tree Planting
The President will plant a blue beech tree (Carpinus caroliniana) on the grounds of Rideau Hall to commemorate his State visit to Canada. The wood of the blue beech is known for its strength—a reflection of the strong bilateral relationship that exists between Israel and Canada.
Close to 150 commemorative trees grace the grounds of Rideau Hall, the official residence of the governor general of Canada. They mark visits by members of the Royal Family, heads of State and other dignitaries.
