Laptops for Learning Launch Event
On October 30th, members from the Toronto Police 31 Division CPLC and Greenwin Corp.'s community outreach arm, Greenwin Cares, will kick off their new Laptops for Learning initiative with families from the Jane and Finch community. Through this program, local-area students facing technological barriers to education are gifted high-quality, fully-refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Chromebooks, donated by Greenwin Corp.
Students were referred to the Laptops for Learning program through the Black Community Consultative Committee (BCCC), a volunteer-based organization that focuses on strengthening community bonds, providing resources and support to empower the black community to overcome systemic barriers to success. Approximately 45 children will receive laptops at the launch event, with plans to distribute hundreds more in the coming months.
