MEDIA ADVISORY: His Highness the Aga Khan to deliver the keynote lecture at
the 10th Annual LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium
TORONTO, Oct. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - His Highness the Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, and Founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), will deliver the keynote lecture at the Institute for Canadian Citizenship's (ICC) 10th Annual LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium, on Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Royal Conservatory of Music's Koerner Hall in Toronto. The ICC was founded by the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, 26th Governor General of Canada, in 2005 as her legacy project, and is co-chaired by John Ralston Saul.
His Highness the Aga Khan is a leader in community development and a strong advocate for diversity. His Highness recently chaired the inaugural board meeting of the Global Centre for Pluralism, Canada's new international research and education centre dedicated to the study and practice of pluralism worldwide, an initiative in partnership with the Government of Canada.
The LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium, generously supported by TD Bank Financial Group, kicks off the ICC's activities for Citizenship Week (Oct. 18 to 22). Other events will include community citizenship ceremonies throughout the month of October. Visit www.icc-icc.ca for more information.
The ICC is dedicated to engaging Canadians in citizenship. The LaFontaine-Baldwin Symposium was founded by John Ralston Saul to foster a debate on the future of Canada's civic culture. Visit www.lafontaine-baldwin.com for more information on the Symposium.
