Media Advisory - Kingston ceremony continues cross-Canada commemoration of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy Français
KINGSTON, ON, May 17, 2019 /CNW/ - Veterans Affairs Canada will mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy with a special ceremony as part of the commemorative journey across Canada to Halifax. This spring, trains carrying combat boots—symbolic of the many Canadians who traded in their civilian shoes for combat boots, and took a similar journey to serve in the Second World War—are travelling across the country, from Vancouver to Halifax. The boots will arrive in Halifax on June 3, and will be part of the Government of Canada signature ceremony on June 6.
