OTTAWA, ON, Aug. 28, 2024 /CNW/ - As families continue to struggle under the weight of the ongoing affordability crisis, workers across the country are coming together to challenge corporate greed and demand that politicians prioritize people over profits. This Labour Day, Canada's unions are launching "Workers Together: For a Better Deal", to empower workers and elevate their voices.
"As we mark Labour Day, it is crucial to remember that the fight for workers' rights is far from over," said Lily Chang, CLC Secretary-Treasurer. "We need to build on our successes and push for even stronger protections and policies that focus on creating an affordable Canada, where everyone can access their basic needs. Our collective power lies in standing together, and through the Workers Together campaign, we will amplify the voices of those who need it most."
CLC Officers will be travelling nationwide to engage with workers and community leaders at Labour Day events, and to help provide a platform for workers to share their stories and advocate for change.
"Workers are the backbone of our economy, yet many are struggling in an increasingly unaffordable Canada. The federal Conservative agenda threatens to exacerbate these challenges," said Bea Bruske, CLC President. "Our Workers Together campaign is a call to tackle corporate greed and prioritize programs that make life more affordable and build strong communities. We need politicians who will take concrete actions to support working families. Workers contribute significantly to our economy, and they deserve their fair share."
