Media Advisory - Law Society of Ontario and the Métis Nation of Ontario host special event on Louis Riel Day Français
TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2019 /CNW/ - Every year on November 16, Canadians commemorate the life and work of Louis Riel, a dedicated Métis leader and a visionary. To mark this occasion, the Law Society of Ontario and the Métis Nation of Ontario will be hosting a special event entitled "From Powley to Self-Government" at Osgoode Hall in Toronto on Friday, November 15.
A special panel discussion will be convened at this event to discuss the historic self-government agreements signed in June 2019 between Canada and the Métis Nation of Ontario, the Métis Nation of Alberta and the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan.
The panel will be composed of:
- Margaret Froh, President, Métis Nation of Ontario
- Glen McCallum, President Métis Nation of Saskatchewan
- Jason Madden, Partner, Pape Salter Teillet LLP
- Tom Isaac, Partner, Cassels Brock
