Media Advisory - Law Society presents honorary LLD to preeminent class action counsel R. Douglas Elliott Français
TORONTO, June 21, 2021 /CNW/ - At the June 23, 2021 Convocation meeting the Law Society will present a degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) to R. Douglas Elliott, a leading expert in public law, class actions and Charter litigation.
The Law Society awards honorary doctorates each year to distinguished individuals in recognition of outstanding achievements in the legal profession, the rule of law or the cause of justice.
Mr. Elliott has argued some of this country's most important Charter of Rights cases, particularly in relation to minority rights, such as same sex marriage. He has served as counsel in major class action cases involving some of the largest recoveries against the Crown in Canada and has been recognized as one of the Best Class Action Lawyers in Canada by The Best Lawyers in Canada.
