Media Advisory - Law Society to honour leading Constitutional lawyer and a former Treasurer with honorary LLD Français
TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2020 /CNW/ - The Law Society of Ontario will present a degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD), to legal trailblazer Janet E. Minor, at its Call to the Bar ceremony at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on January 31.
As part of its Call ceremonies each year, the Law Society awards honorary doctorates to distinguished individuals in recognition of outstanding achievements in the legal profession, the rule of law, or the cause of justice. Recipients serve as inspirational keynote speakers for the new lawyers attending the ceremonies.
Ms. Minor dedicated her career to the public interest through her work at the Provincial Government and through her contributions to the Law Society of Ontario.
Ms. Minor was elected as the Law Society's 65th Treasurer in June 2014 and was acclaimed for a second term in June 2015. She served as one of Canada's most highly respected civil and Constitutional litigators, acting as counsel on many precedent-setting cases on behalf of the Government of Ontario.
She is receiving the honorary LLD in recognition of her dedication and numerous contributions to the legal profession and community.

Law Society Treasurer Malcolm Mercer will award the honorary LLD to Ms. Minor, who will then deliver the keynote address to the new lawyers at the ceremony.
