TORONTO, April 20, 2018 /CNW/ - On Monday, April 23, LiUNA Members and Leaders across the province Rally for Fairness against Schedule 14, Bill 31, a draconian piece of legislation that threatens the bargaining rights and the futures of thousands of LiUNA Members employed in the Hi-Rise Forming and ICI Sector, slipped in to the Budget to favour one particular union.
Ahead of the provincial election on June 7, Premier Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Labour Kevin Flynn, Minister of Finance Charles Sousa and Minister of Economic Growth and Development Steven DelDuca, are working to quickly and quietly push through changes to the Labour Relations Act under Bill 31 of the provincial budget. If passed, the amendments would remove the bargaining rights of thousands of LIUNA formworkers and void parts of a province-wide collective agreement that has been in place for more than 40 years.
