Media advisory: McDonald's Canada expert available for commentary on Informed Dining Announcement
TORONTO, April 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, the British Columbia government launched news of its Informed Dining program including the addition of 21 chain restaurant participants.
Informed Dining is the first nutrition information program of its kind in Canada. Calorie and sodium information is prominently highlighted for all standard menu items, along with information on daily calorie and sodium requirements. This information will help provide context for customers to understand how a menu item fits into their daily needs.
The Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA) has released news that several provincial and territorial governments are working together to develop the Informed Dining program as a national standard for providing restaurant-goers with nutrition information.
McDonald's is one of the first national restaurant chains to commit to a national rollout of the program and commends the BC Ministry of Health for working in partnership with industry to develop Informed Dining. Informed Dining will be featured in all 1,400 McDonald's restaurants across the country in fall 2013.
Sherry MacLauchlan is the Director of Government Relations and Sustainability at McDonald's Canada. She was one of the restaurant industry leaders involved in the collaborative development of the Informed Dining program prior to its launch in British Columbia last May. Sherry is available to media today to discuss this important program and how it will be implemented at McDonald's.
