Media Advisory: Media Accreditation and Pool Feed Access for CityNews Debate with Doug Ford, Andrea Horwath, and Kathleen Wynne
TORONTO, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ - On Monday, May 7 from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., CityNews will host the first televised debate ahead of this year's Ontario provincial election. Confirmed participants are Doug Ford, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario; Andrea Horwath, leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party; and Kathleen Wynne, leader of the Ontario Liberal Party.
The debate will take place at the City studios at 33 Dundas St. E. in Toronto. Please see below for details on media accreditation, pool feed availability, and on-site press opportunities.
NOTE: Wireless is not permitted in City studios, and there is no RF or live transmission use allowed in the City building
4 p.m. – 6 p.m. – MEDIA CHECK-IN
- Option #1 – Stand in media pits outside City building to cover leader arrivals.
- Option #2 – Enter City building through rear entrance on Victoria St. Ln. and set up in media room. Media will be able to watch the debate live on TV or live stream. Media room access closes at 6 p.m., with no in/out privileges until debate is finished.
- All media must contact [email protected] for advanced accreditation to the event.
***NOTE: Only media with advanced accreditation will be admitted to cover the event; no exceptions.
5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – LEADER ARRIVALS
Approx. 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – #CITYVOTE: THE DEBATE
7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. – MEDIA SCRUM IN STUDIO
- Cameras who are not on-site must return to media check in and enter the building by 7:15 p.m. to cover scrum in studio ***NOTE: previous accreditation required.
- Media who are already on site must present proper identification before entry into studio.
FOR MEDIA ON-SITE
- Media are required to present proper identification before accreditation for entry into outdoor media pits and City building.
- Debate will take place in a closed studio. Media are invited to watch a live video feed in English in a separate media room. The debate will also be live streamed on CityNews.ca and on OMNITV.ca in Mandarin and Punjabi. Media are asked to bring their own devices and headphones.
- Seating in the media room is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Light refreshments to be provided.
- Due to limited space, media will not be permitted into the studio during the debate. Access will be provided to Maclean's, Canadian Press and Reuters pool photographers with limited access to take photos during the debate.
- Photos will be shared on the wire and by Rogers Media Communications upon request.
- There will be no video cameras allowed into the studio during the debate.
- Plug-ins will be available for audio recording of debate in English in the media room.
- Plug-ins will be available for audio recording of scrum (English only).
- Scrum with candidates immediately following the debate. **Wireless is not permitted in the studio, and there is no RF or live transmission use allowed in the City building**
- HD video feed of full debate and scrum (English) will be available only at Toronto TOC in stereo at no fee for news access only (3 minutes).
- Following the debate, media can access embed code of clips by going to Toronto.citynews.ca/video. To get the embed code: click play on a video, hover over the video player and then click on the share icon in the bottom right hand corner. Embed and share links appear on screen.
