Making Sport Safer and More Welcoming, Together!
As we look back on everything we have accomplished over the last year, we are filled with pride. We see a collective commitment to create a sport environment that is safer and more welcoming for our athletes, our children, and our country.
We are not only seeing important accomplishments from our government, but also from the provinces, territories, the sport community, and our athletes. Athletes want to see a change for the better, and frankly, we don't blame them. We do too!
Together, we are fighting to eliminate harassment, abuse and discrimination in sport. We are working together to achieve gender equity in all areas of sport. We are using sport as a tool for social development in Indigenous communities. And with Budget 2019 investments, we will be able to continue this important work.
So today, let's take pride in the many positive achievements of the past year and let's start a new year by committing to making a difference, wherever and however we can. We have said it before and we are saying it again. We will not rest until our athletes and children are safe and welcomed in sport.
