United Steelworkers leaders to visit Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Canada's largest aluminum-production region, to call for political support of key industry.
ALMA, QC, March 20, 2019 /CNW/ - United Steelworkers (USW) Canadian Director Ken Neumann and USW Quebec Director Alain Croteau will be in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region, the country's aluminum-producing heartland, on Friday to meet with workers and call for political support of the vital industry.
Neumann and Croteau will visit workers at the Alma aluminum smelter, accompanied by USW Local 9490 President Alexandre Fréchette, who represents workers at the Alma smelter.
The Steelworkers leaders will hold a news conference at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the Local 9490 union offices.
