MEDIA ADVISORY: Olympic-sized Lessons About Working With Government

OTTAWA, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - How did an event with over 2,600 participants from 82 nations participating in 86 events at a projected operating cost of $1.76 billion, and $580 million of Canadian taxpayer money invested in venues, manage to successfully navigate all levels of government to achieve such success? Was it a fluke? Should Canada be in the business of hosting large events like the Olympics?

John Furlong, Vanoc CEO will deliver "A Vision Too Far? Lessons from the Games that Changed Canada" at the Public Policy Forum's fifth annual Gordon Osbaldeston Lecture. Mr. Furlong will explore the challenges that he experienced organizing the Olympics and outline the many lessons to be learned from it.
