TORONTO, June 22, 2019 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) board members, leaders and staff will show their pride this Sunday as they join in Toronto's 2019 Pride Parade.
The ONA contingent will ride or march with the ONA float when the parade gets underway to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Ontarians.
ONA President Vicki McKenna, RN, says, "As nurses and health-care professionals, we join with the LGBTQ+ community, our colleagues and our patients in celebrating Pride. Nurses strongly support human rights and equity, and Pride is a great opportunity to celebrate our diverse histories, experiences, backgrounds."
ONA is the union representing 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as more than 16,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care, the community, public health, clinics and industry.
