Media advisory - Opening of the Seaway: the first ship of the 2021 season will be sailing as of March 22nd Français
ST. LAMBERT, QC, March 16, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - The 2021 navigation season of the St. Lawrence Seaway will be officially launched on March 22, 2021. To mark the passage of the first ship of the year through the St. Lambert Lock on Montreal's south shore, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation will hold a virtual event that will bring together dignitaries from the Canadian, U.S. and Quebec governments, as well as representatives from both the Canadian and U.S. Corporations.
This will be an opportunity for the Corporation to reflect on the past year, marked by the pandemic and the economic crisis, and to explain the role of the Seaway in Canada's economic recovery efforts. A present will also be given to the captain of the ship, a CSL Group Trillium Class vessel.
As it will not be possible to physically access the lock site in St. Lambert, photos and video (b-roll) will be available for use by the media.
