MEDIA ADVISORY - OPSEU gears up for largest-ever Convention
TORONTO, May 22, 2019 /CNW/ - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) kicks off its largest-ever Convention on Thursday, May 23. With OPSEU's 155,000 membership strong and growing, more than 2000 delegates and observers are expected to attend.
During the three jam-packed days, elections will be held for OPSEU's President and First Vice-President/Treasurer and delegates will debate how to continue the ongoing fight against the Ford government and to protect high-quality public services in Ontario.

Thursday's keynote speakers will include Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath and anti-privatization activist and Queen's University professor David McDonald.
On Friday, elections will be held for OPSEU's highest ranking positions of President and First Vice-President/Treasurer followed by the presentation of OPSEU's highest award, the Stanley H. Knowles Humanitarian Award. This year's award will be presented posthumously to Harry Leslie Smith, the world's oldest rebel.
On Saturday, the leader of Canada's NDP Jagmeet Singh will deliver the final keynote speech.
