LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 29, 2023 /CNW/ - The OSIRIS-REx mission is expected to deliver the asteroid Bennu sample on September 24, 2023. Canada will be receiving a portion of the sample for study, thanks to its contribution of the OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter to the mission.
Canadian media may participate in the following NASA media events related to the sample return.
Pre-landing NASA news conference
On August 30, 2023, NASA will host a news conference at the Utah Test and Training Range to discuss its sample capsule drop test and preparations for the sample recovery. To participate in the news conference, media must RSVP at least two hours before the event to [email protected]. The news conference will also air on NASA TV.
Canadian Space Agency (CSA) experts will be available for interviews following the news conference. Please contact the CSA's Media Relations Office for all media requests (information below).

Sample reveal event
On October 11, 2023, NASA will be hosting a news conference and media day at the OSIRIS-REx Curation Laboratory at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid Bennu sample reveal. Canadian media who wish to get accredited for the event must apply by emailing [email protected] before 4:00 p.m. ET on September 29, 2023.
