TORONTO, May 21, 2019 /CNW/ - Parents, educators and municipal leaders will be petitioning against Ford's child care cuts at child care centres across the province, including in Premier Ford's riding of Etobicoke North, on Wednesday May 22nd, starting at 7:45am.
Child care is facing over $80 million in funding cuts this year from the Ontario government, putting thousands of child care subsidies and child care programs in jeopardy.
In Toronto, child care supporters will be at Willowridge Early Learning Centre in Premier Doug Ford's riding of Etobicoke North to talk to families and community members about the impact of the province's child care cuts, which the City of Toronto estimates could raise parent fees and result in the loss of over 6000 subsidies for low-income families.
Location: Willowridge Early Learning Centre, 30 Earldown Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9R 2L3
Who: Toronto City Councillor Mike Layton; CUPE 79 President Dave Mitchell; and Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care Coordinator Carolyn Ferns will join families and educators to talk about the funding cuts.
