MEDIA ADVISORY: Parkland to contribute over $4 million to front-line health workers, truckers and food banks through its Community Driven program Français
CALGARY, May 19, 2020 /CNW/ - Parkland Corporation ("Parkland", "we", the "Company", or "our") is proud to announce that it is on track to contribute over $4 million of community support during the COVID-19 pandemic across its Canadian, US and International businesses.
"Our retail and commercial brands are integral parts of their communities," said Bob Espey, President and CEO of Parkland. "As COVID-19 began to impact our society, we supported those in need with life's essentials: fuel and high-quality food and snacks. We provided front-line health workers and first responders with over $3.5 million of fuel, and truckers with free hot showers as well as food and snack discounts at select company cardlock and convenience stores."
Today, Parkland announced an additional $500,000 of support to Food Banks Canada. This will begin with an initial donation of $250,000 of fuel cards and healthy snacks that will be distributed to Canadian food banks to support their food delivery services and enhance their emergency food hampers. In addition, from May 13 to the end of June, Parkland will match up to $250,000 of their customers financial donations with additional fuel and healthy snacks.
"We encourage Canadians to lend their support to Food Banks Canada through our Community Driven program," added Espey. "Getting involved is easy. Our customers can make a financial donation as they fuel their vehicles and buy convenience goods at our over 1,200 participating Chevron, FasGas, Pioneer and Ultramar retail gas stations across Canada. Every donation will help support those in need and make a positive difference to our communities."
"The economic disruption caused by COVID-19 has led to an increase in demand for food bank services," said Chris Hatch, CEO, Food Banks Canada. "Parkland's support comes at a perfect time. Their fuel donations will help food banks across Canada get food to those who need it most and their 80,000 healthy snacks will enhance our emergency hampers. We encourage Canadians to donate if they can at Parkland's Chevron, FasGas, Pioneer and Ultramar gas stations."
