MONCTON, NB, Nov. 12, 2024 /CNW/ - Parks Canada
The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Member of Parliament for Moncton – Riverview – Dieppe, will participate in a Parks Canada and Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate the historic significance of Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil.
Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil is a key figure in Acadian history and holds a special place in the collective memory of Acadian communities in Louisiana and the Maritime provinces. In the mid-18th century, he became a leader in Acadian resistance to British rule. Born in Port-Royal, Beausoleil spent much of his life along the Petitcodiac River.
Minister Petitpas Taylor will make the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada.
