SYDENHAM RIVER NATURE RESERVE, ON, Sept. 19, 2022 /CNW/ - Join Ontario Nature's expert biologists to learn about habitat restoration at the Sydenham River Nature Reserve and help plant native trees and shrubs. Hon. Monte McNaughton (MPP of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex), Ontario Trillium Foundation and other funders who have financially supported the restoration project will be at the nature reserve to celebrate habitat restoration successes that we have achieved throughout the years.
Located in the Carolinian Life Zone, the nature reserve represents some of the province's best remaining examples of vulnerable habitat for numerous species at risk, several of which are found almost exclusively along the Sydenham River.
Attendees can join for the morning, afternoon or all day. Staff and volunteers will be planting 750 plants over two weekends to transform agricultural fields into Carolinian forest habitat.
Ontario Nature encourages attendees to bring a refillable bottle, their own lunch, gloves, trowels and reusable masks. Ontario Nature will provide hand sanitizer, wipes, masks and snacks. Portable washroom facilities will be available on-site.
