Let's Tell Canada Post to Negotiate Fair Collective Agreements
OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 27, 2024 /CNW/ - For almost two weeks, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has been on strike against Canada Post fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, the right for all workers to retire with dignity, and the expansion of public postal services for all communities. But rather than make an effort to bargain good collective agreements that meet the needs of postal workers and the public, Canada Post has dug in its heels. Canada Post refuses to drop its proposed rollbacks that will create a second class of worker and undermine good, full-time jobs. As a Crown Corporation, Canada Post needs to lead by example, not engage in a race to the bottom with multinational corporate giants.
This Thursday at 9 am, CUPW members and labour allies are gathering at Canada Post Head Office at 2701 Riverside Drive in Ottawa to send a strong message to the Corporation to get back to the bargaining table and start negotiating real solutions to our problems.
