OTTAWA, March 29, 2019 /CNW/ - With time drawing short to move Bill C-262, the UN Declaration implementation Bill, through the Senate and towards Royal Assent before this session of Parliament ends, prominent advocates for the rights of Indigenous peoples are holding a press conference to urge Senators to act without delay.

Bill C-262 is a private members bill put forward by NDP MP Romeo Saganash that would require the federal government to move ahead with the promised implementation the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as called for by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
