Media Advisory: UK Gifts A Colossal Wave VR Sculpture to Montréal for 375th Anniversary
MONTRÉAL, Aug. 23, 2017 /CNW/ - The United Kingdom is proud to gift an interactive digital sculpture to the City of Montréal to honour the city's 375th Anniversary. The piece, entitled A Colossal Wave, celebrates the creativity, innovation and vitality of the city of Montreal and its links with the UK, and encourages visitors to experience urban space differently.
What: A Colossal Wave is an Oculus-based VR artwork, split into two separate outdoor and indoor installations.
Where: A Colossal Wave will be presented in the Quartier des spectacles Montréal as part of KM3, the city's newest outdoor temporary public art event, as well as at the Phi Centre, as part of the exhibition Lucid Realities.
When: August 30 – October 15, 2017 in the Quartier des Spectacles & August 30 – October 8, 2017 at the Phi Centre
Why: To honour the occasion, British Council Canada proposed the development of a legacy gift that is beyond the traditional norm. Opting for a digital gift, rather than a physical one, the organization wanted to honour the city by bringing people together through art.
