Media Advisory/Interview & Photo Opportunity - Canada Company to Award Scholarships to Nine Children of Canadian Forces Personnel Who Perished In the Line of Duty
TORONTO, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Nine children of Canadian military personnel who perished while serving their country will receive post-secondary education scholarships from Canada Company at the seventh annual awards ceremony to be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Toronto-Dominion Centre, Plaza Courtyard.
During the ceremony, Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, the Commander of the Canadian Army will represent the Canadian Forces. Laura Squires, daughter of the late Sgt. Hedley Jerry Squires [d: August 25, 1999] and Francis Paul, son of the late Capt. Frank Paul [d: February 10, 2010] will speak on behalf of the recipients. Blake Goldring, Chairman and CEO, AGF Management Limited and Founder and Chair of Canada Company will address the audience of hundreds from Toronto's business community.
Created in 2006, Canada Company brings business leaders together from across Canada to support Canadian soldiers and their families. The Canada Company Scholarship Fund was created in 2007 to supplement benefits available to children who have had a parent perish while on duty. Awarded annually, the scholarships provide $4,000 per year for up to four years to children who qualify. These scholarships help to offset tuition fees and other living expenses required to complete a post-secondary education.
