Media Advisory/Photo Op - Canadian Javelin Olympian to throw out tips at 1st Annual Canadian Mobile Phone Throwing Championship

Unconventional sporting competition sponsored by Mobilicity offers Canucks chance to break world record & win $5,000

WHAT:	Media are invited to attend the 1^st Annual Canadian Mobile Phone Throwing Championship and witness the setting of a Canadian record, as well as the possible breaking of the world mobile phone throwing record.
WHO:	Canadian Women's Javelin Olympian Liz Gleadle will share expert hurling tips with mobile-phone throwing champion hopefuls and participate in the competition's award ceremony. Ms. Gleadle, a 23-year-old Vancouver native who trains in Lethbridge, was the first female javelin thrower to represent Canada at the Olympics in almost 25 years. She placed 12^th at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
	Mobilicity President and Chief Operating Officer Stewart Lyons and Chief Customer Officer Anthony Booth will award the Canadian Mobile Phone Champion with $5,000 and a Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone with a year of Mobilicity's unlimited data, talk and text service.
WHERE:	The Championship will be held at the Red & Blue Bowl football game between the Varsity Blues and the York Lions at Varsity Centre, 299 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
WHEN:	Saturday, October 13, 2012 PHOTO OP: Qualifying rounds: 12:30 pm - 1 pm PRESS LUNCH: 1 pm PHOTO OP: Championship Halftime Show - Approx. 2:30 pm Awards ceremony to follow.
WHY:	Inspired by the recent Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships in Finland, the Canadian Championship is expected to draw hundreds of participants who will vie for one of three finalist spots to set a Canadian record and attempt to break the 101.46-metre-world-record-throw set in August by Ere Karjalainen of Finland.
	Mobilicity brought the event to Canada to give Canadians a fun opportunity to unleash pent-up frustration of being locked into mobile phone contracts and paying the highest rates in the world. The event is also being held in timing with the start of Waste Reduction Week in Canada (October 15 - 21) and will have recycling bins in the stadium for easy and safe recycling of mobile devices.
