WHY: | Inspired by the recent Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships in Finland, the Canadian Championship is expected to draw hundreds of participants who will vie for one of three finalist spots to set a Canadian record and attempt to break the 101.46-metre-world-record-throw set in August by Ere Karjalainen of Finland. |
Mobilicity brought the event to Canada to give Canadians a fun opportunity to unleash pent-up frustration of being locked into mobile phone contracts and paying the highest rates in the world. The event is also being held in timing with the start of Waste Reduction Week in Canada (October 15 - 21) and will have recycling bins in the stadium for easy and safe recycling of mobile devices. |
