Media Advisory/Photo-Op - Heart and Stroke Foundation hands out largest cash prize ever of 3 million dollars to Oshawa woman, as well as runner-up prizes to GTA winners of the "Heart&Stroke Lottery"

WHAT: The lucky winner of the $3 million Heart& Stroke Lottery Grand Prize, Linda Doucet of Oshawa, as well as two other large prize winners from the GTA, will accept cheques at the Heart and Stroke Foundation's offices from Tom McAllister, CEO, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Ontario. The lottery tickets, sold for $100 for one or $250 for three, offered opportunities to win a Grand Prize of $3 million as well as luxury cars and exotic trips. Since its inception, the Foundation's lottery program has generated more than $224 million for life-saving heart disease and stroke research that helps create more survivors.

WHO: Three million dollar Grand Prize winner from Oshawa, Linda Doucet, has been a supporter of the Foundation for many years. Upon receiving the phone call, she immediately knew what she wanted to do with part of the winnings; open a dog rescue.
Two of the other winners will also be present at the cheque presentation:
Hemma Rumpl, from Toronto was speechless, which she claims is quite unlike her. She supports the Heart and Stroke Foundation because her grandparents passed away of heart disease and stroke related issues. Hemma takes home $109, 768.
Cathy Kimber, from East York was "jumping out of her boots with excitement". Cathy and her husband support HSF and a variety of other charities for the great research initiatives they do. Cathy takes home $83, 475.
