Media Advisory/Photo Op - Hon. Mitzie Hunter announces special capital investment at Centennial College
TORONTO, April 5, 2017 /CNW/ - The Honourable Mitzie Hunter, MPP for Scarborough-Guildwood and Ontario Minister of Education, will be on hand at Centennial College on Friday morning to announce the college's share of a special $50 million capital investment to help enhance the student experience.
Ontario's college system is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and to commemorate this historic milestone, the Ontario government is distributing a one-time $50 million capital investment among the province's 24 public colleges. The funding will allow colleges to invest in new technology, equipment and learning spaces that will benefit learners.
Since its founding in 1967, Ontario's college system has provided high-quality education and training to nearly 2 million students. Centennial College, located in Toronto's east end, was the first college of applied arts and technology to open with the approval of Education Minister William Davis on October 17, 1966.
