Ottawa hosts 60th Baden-Powell World Fellowship Event
OTTAWA, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - The World Scout Foundation and Scouts Canada will host the 60th Baden-Powell World Fellowship Event October 14 - 17, 2010 in Ottawa. This is an international event that will recognize 121 Canadians for their generous financial contributions to the World Scout Foundation which helps support the Scouting movement worldwide. A highlight will be a presentation ceremony to be held in the Senate Chamber, Parliament of Canada on Saturday, October 16. Scouts Canada will be joined by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston in his capacity as Patron Scout, His Majesty King Carl Gustaf of Sweden in his capacity as Honourary President of the World Scout Foundation, Her Majesty Queen Silvia, the Honourable Senator Donald H. Oliver, Speaker Pro Tempore, and the Honourable Senator Consiglio Di Nino to honour 16 extraordinary Scouting members who will be receiving or who have earlier received Scouts Canada's highest awards for gallantry and exceptional service.

- Two new recipients will be presented awards by the Governor General in his capacity as Patron Scout of Canada. This special ceremony will also recognize 14 Scouting youth and adults from across Canada who have received awards for gallantry and exceptional service over the past few years. Each of the awards carries an incredible story of courage, heroism, personal achievement, and outstanding service.
