Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - Canadian Paralympic Committee invites media and public to experience Parasport Festivals in Whitby and Mississauga Français
Come try sports for people with a disability, meet athletes and learn how to get involved!
TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Paralympic Committee, in celebration of Sports Day in Canada, is thrilled to present a Parasport Festival at Whitby Abilities Centre on Saturday November 30.
In addition, on Tuesday Dec. 3, Mississauga's Hershey Centre will host a Parasport Festival to honor the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Both Festivals are presented in partnership with the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario.
Everyone is invited to come try out parasports for themselves, including in Whitby: wheelchair basketball, boccia, judo, sitting volleyball, sailing, canoe kayak, sledge hockey, archery, equestrian, para-alpine skiing and hand cycling. Parasports in Mississauga will include: athletics, boccia, table tennis, wheelchair basketball, goalball, wheelchair rugby, sailing, sledge hockey, para-alpine skiing, para-Nordic skiing, canoe kayak and swimming.
Meet Paralympic athletes, get autographs and see how they apply their athletic skills to earn medals for Canada! Discover opportunities to get involved in parasport - whether as an athlete, coach, parent or volunteer. All activities are free and open to everyone.
