Community event supports St. Joseph's Health Centre, including building a new Paediatric Emergency Department

TORONTO, Oct. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - On Sunday, October 25, 2015, St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation is holding its fourth annual Toronto West Halloween Fest in the heart of Bloor West Village. This family-friendly Halloween event saw more than 5,000 people attend last year, and this year's will be bigger and better than ever with performances by Splash'N Boots – a JUNO Nominee for Children's Album of the Year – and a Taylor Swift Tribute show, RED featuring Alli. Scotiabank is the lead sponsor again this year.

There will be many family fun activities at the Street Festival – open to everyone – including:

• Scotiabank Hockey Zone – NHL Alumni Dan "Dangerous Danny" Daoust, and Johnny "The China Wall" Bower will sign autographs
• Halloween arts and crafts, and pumpkin decorating
• Pizza Pizza Bouncy Castle, Spooky Snap Booth and Spookers Corner

NEW THIS YEAR – Trick-or-Treat 5K Walk

St. Joe's will host its first ever Trick or Treat 5K Walk to encourage the community to come together to help raise funds for a new Paediatric Emergency Department at the Health Centre. Children and parents can show off their costumes to the Bloor West Village community, while enjoying treats and surprises at four check points throughout the route. Participants must raise a minimum of $300 for a team, or $100 as individuals. Registration is $60 for teams and $25 for individuals. The new Paediatric Emergency Department at St. Joe's is a critical priority as the current space needs to be expanded – kids and adolescents visited the centre more than 18,000 times last year alone.
