Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity - New Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Program the First of its Kind in Ontario
TORONTO, May 8, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, with MPP Michael Coteau, Taras Rohatyn, Executive Director, North York Family Health Team (NYFHT), and Tim Rutledge, President and CEO, North York General Hospital (NYGH) will celebrate the launch of the Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Program.
The Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Program is a new model of cancer survivorship care aiming to transfer monitoring of patients who have finished treatment to primary care from oncologists and surgeons.
This innovative program, developed by the North York Family Health Team and North York General Hospital, will alleviate wait times for newly diagnosed patients needing to see a cancer specialist, and centralize follow-up care for patients.
