to be Displayed at Queen's Park
TORONTO, April 29 /CNW/ - The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation and the Ontario Craft Council invite you to join us for an unveiling of the Quilt of Possibilities at Queen's Park to mark its installation there for the next several weeks. The dynamic quilt was created earlier this year to celebrate the Greenbelt's 5th Anniversary.
Who: Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, Ontario Craft Council, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Members of Provincial Parliament What: Reception and Quilt unveiling When: Monday, May 3rd, 5-6pm, Speakers Reception Room, Room 340, Main Legislative Building at Queen's Park
The Quilt of Possibilities is made up of 56 contributed quilt squares from across the province and even as far away as British Columbia and Switzerland. It features a rich diversity of materials, techniques and subject matters. Each square tells a story, shares a memory, or evokes an emotion of what this important landscape means.
The Quilt will visit a number of locations across the Greenbelt over the course of the year. This first official stop, at Queen's Park, is an important opportunity for the leaders of Ontario to encounter the creative work of local makers while the House is still in session. It will then be available for public viewing from May 4th until June 11th where it will hang outside the public gallery on the fourth floor.
The Ontario Crafts Council exists to grow recognition and appreciation of craft and craftspepople by building a strong, talented, distinct craft community and advocating on its behalf.
