Hundreds of volunteers will be sorting and packing food donations today at Daily Bread Food Bank. The Holiday Drive Public Food Sorts are a popular community event, with over 600 volunteer spots filling up online in only 20 minutes. | |
"It's been a tough week for Toronto and we are currently working with the province to provide additional support during this difficult time. It was great to see so many volunteers still able to make it out yesterday helping the community by sorting through food donations", said Gail Nyberg, Daily Bread's executive director. | |
The Holiday Drive ends December with goals of $2.5 million and 1 million pounds of food. As of December 27, $1,965,000 million and 420,000 pounds of food have been donated. | |
Note: Daily Bread is fully booked for public sorting. No volunteers are required. | |

GENERAL HOLIDAY DRIVE INFORMATION
The fastest, easiest way to make a financial donation is online at www.dailybread.ca. You can also mail cheques to: Daily Bread Food Bank, 191 New Toronto Street, Toronto, ON M8V 2E7. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at any local fire hall or participating grocery stores. Most needed food items include canned fish, peanut butter, rice, pasta, tomato sauce, canned/dried beans, baby food and formula, powdered milk and canned fruits and vegetables.
