Media Alert - Dr. Anna Reid of the Northwest Territories Commits to Reducing Health Inequalities as the CMA's new President
YELLOWKNIFE, NT, Aug. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - The business portion of the Canadian Medical Association's (CMA) annual meeting will culminate with the inaugural speech of incoming president Dr. Anna Reid. Dr. Reid takes over the presidency of the CMA for 2012-2013. Her inaugural speech will set out her vision for the next year and her strategy to advance the direction for health care transformation given by delegates at the annual meeting.
Close to 300 physician delegates have gathered in Yellowknife to attend the CMA's 145th annual meeting of General Council taking place August 12-15 at the St. Patrick High School.
Delegates' motions and the incoming president's inaugural address are among the highlights of the last day of deliberations. The installation ceremony and the CMA's award ceremony will be held in the evening at the Shorty Brown Arena. This year, the CMA is recognizing eleven exceptional individuals, including dedicated physicians, talented medical students and outstanding health advocates.
