Media Alert - Future physicians on Parliament Hill to discuss broadening
make-up of Canada's medical schools
OTTAWA, March 25 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) will take the voice of Canada's physicians-in- training to Parliament Hill during its Federal Lobby Day on March 29, 2010.
Medical students from across Canada will meet with Members of Parliament and Senators to discuss the inadequate representation of rural and low socioeconomic groups in Canadian medical schools. This lack of diversity threatens to reduce accessibility of health care in urban and rural settings, and exacerbate the family physician shortage in Canada.
Students will discuss solutions to this problem with policy makers.
WHEN: Monday, March 29, 2010 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. WHERE: Room 209, West Block Parliament Hill CFMS President Tyler Johnston will be available for interviews during the day.
