ABOUT BORED TO DEATH

Based on the semi-autobiographical musings of eclectic author Jonathan Ames , the eight-episode first season of Bored To Death tells the story of the fictional Jonathan Ames ( Jason Schwartzman ), a young Brooklyn writer who, in the wake of a painful break-up, is finding it difficult to write his second novel. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies, including moonlighting as a private detective, in an attempt to emulate his heroes from classic crime novels. Along for the ride are Jonathan's needy magazine editor boss, George Christopher ( Ted Danson ), who frequently interferes with his newfound career, and his best friend Ray (Zach Galifianakis), a struggling graphic artist who does his best to advise him but can barely keep his own life together.
