Media Alert - The Canadian Nuclear Society will hold its 36th annual conference at the Marriott Toronto Eaton Centre Hotel, Sunday to Wednesday, June 19-22, 2016

TORONTO, June 17, 2016 /CNW/ -  "Nuclear in the 21^st Century: Global Directions and Canada's Role" is the theme for this year's gathering of nuclear industry experts from across Canada and around the world.

This theme reflects the national focus and team effort embraced by the Canadian nuclear science and technology community as it develops innovative solutions to meet society's needs in the 21st century. 

Topics for discussion at this conference will include: the status of nuclear science and technology in Canada and around the world, recent developments at Canadian utilities and laboratories, issues facing new nuclear technology development, plans for plant refurbishment, nuclear medicine, public engagement and outreach, and nuclear waste management. 

A trade show featuring suppliers and other members of the Canadian nuclear industry will run concurrently.  Also concurrent is the 40^th CNS/CNA Student Conference.

On Monday, June 20, recent Nobel laureate, Dr. Art McDonald (Queen's University) will deliver the prestigious "W.B. Lewis" lecture.  The title of his presentation is "The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory: A Nobel Use for Heavy Water".
