TORONTO, Jan. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - In less than 24 hours, 150 volunteers and community minded leaders will gather to extend the lifeline of hope against death among the homeless and less fortunate by 3,000 Winter Survival Kits. Project Winter Survival (PWS), an Engage and Change initiative, will package and distribute 3,000 winter survival kits to aid the efforts of homeless shelters, outreach providers and social service agencies help those less fortunate survive winter on our city streets: Saturday, January 16, 2016, 8:30 am, The Bargains Group Ltd., 890 Caledonia Rd, Toronto.
With the long range weather forecast calling for increasingly colder temperatures, Project Winter Survival will arm frontline providers with such 'necessities for the needy' as sleeping bags, clothing, food, and personal and health care items that often make a difference between life and death. Since it's inception in 1999, Project Winter Survival has assembled and distributed more than 23,000 winter survival kits to GTA and surrounding area homeless.

"The growing plight of our city's homeless goes from critical to deadly during the volatile winter season," said Jody Steinhauer, Project Winter Survival founder.
