MEDIA ALERT: LCBO to auction some of the world's fine and rare wines

WHAT: | Consumers will have the opportunity to bid on some of the world's rarest wines at the 11th annual VINTAGES auction. |
More than 1,100 lots of rare wines valued at $2.3 million will be offered for bidding including an almost unheard of six-litre bottle of 1972 DRC, Romanée-Conti and full cases of 1982 and 1986 DRC Romanée-Conti. Perennial favourites like cru classés Bordeaux are available in quantity, as are selections of American cult wines, including the largest assortment of Sine Qua Non ever auctioned by the LCBO. | |
At the Friday night bidding session, LCBO is also auctioning one of only 11 bottles of Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve, a 55-Year-Old whisky, and one of the rarest single malt scotches in the world. This unique item, valued at $50,000-$70,000, may go on to establish a Canadian record for the most expensive bottle of scotch sold. Proceeds from this particular sale will go to Wounded Warriors, a not-for-profit organization that assists and improves the quality of life of wounded Canadian soldiers and their families. | |
