MEDIA ALERT: LCBO to auction some of the world's fine and rare wines

TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2012 /CNW/ -            

WHAT:	Consumers will have the opportunity to bid on some of the world's rarest wines at the 11^th annual VINTAGES auction.
	More than 1,100 lots of rare wines valued at $2.3 million will be offered for bidding including an almost unheard of six-litre bottle of 1972 DRC, Romanée-Conti and full cases of 1982 and 1986 DRC Romanée-Conti. Perennial favourites like cru classés Bordeaux are available in quantity, as are selections of American cult wines, including the largest assortment of Sine Qua Non ever auctioned by the LCBO.
	At the Friday night bidding session, LCBO is also auctioning one of only 11 bottles of Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve, a 55-Year-Old whisky, and one of the rarest single malt scotches in the world.  This unique item, valued at $50,000-$70,000, may go on to establish a Canadian record for the most expensive bottle of scotch sold. Proceeds from this particular sale will go to Wounded Warriors, a not-for-profit organization that assists and improves the quality of life of wounded Canadian soldiers and their families.
