First Refurbished Basketball Court Unveiled at Delton School
EDMONTON, AB, May 26, 2023 /CNW/ - In celebration of the $500,000 donation by one of Canada's largest automotive groups, Edmonton-based Go Auto, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation (EPSF) and the Edmonton Stingers will be on hand for the unveiling event of the refurbished public school basketball court at Delton School under the 'Fresh Hoops' program.
The $500,000 is the first part of a continuing campaign to support the Edmonton Stingers' Fresh Hoops initiative. To supercharge the initiative, the community is invited to donate to an on-going matching program where Go Auto will match up to an additional $500,000 until 2025, making for a total possible donation of $1.5 million to the EPSF. This total commitment is the largest ever to the EPSF. Donations can be made to the Foundation's website.
WHY: |
Fresh Hoops was developed as a partnership between the Edmonton Stingers and the EPSF to refurbish basketball courts across Edmonton Public Schools. The resurfacing aims to make basketball accessible and fun for all students and includes an array of upgrades such as backboards, hoops, nets, paint, and other improvements.
Outdoor basketball courts promote teamwork, participation and contribute to a child's social, physical, and mental well-being. The aim of the Go Auto donation and matching program is for the community to come together to create long-lasting positive impact for kids. The potential $1.5 million donation would refurbish approximately 75 outdoor basketball courts around the city.
Helping kids who need a leg-up to realize their full potential is core to Go Auto's company values. Go Auto's 'Fuels The Schools' program has provided over 400,000 healthy lunches to Edmonton-area school children since 2018.
