Media Alert: Rarest wines to be featured at Vintages fine wine auction

WHAT: Ontario consumers will be able to bid on some of world's greatest wines, including the 2001 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a renowned Grand Cru red Burgundy, valued at more than $4,000 per 750 mL bottle, at the Vintages fine wine auction at Waddington's Auction House in Toronto from October 16-18. Other highly-valued wines up for auction are lots of exceptional red Bordeaux wines, including a very rare 750 mL bottle of Chateau Petrus 1964, valued between $1,800 and $2,200, and three bottles (750 mL) of Chateau Le Pin 2000, valued between $10,300 and $12,500. The LCBO and Waddington's Auction House will be presenting more than 1,700 lots of rare wines valued at almost $2 million over the three days. The Vintages Finest and Rarest Wines Auction gives collectors the opportunity to obtain rare wines that are not available through other channels. Collecting fine wine has become popular as an investment opportunity as great vintages tend to appreciate in value over time.
