TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2015 /CNW/ - Thousands of ex-smokers from across Ontario's Vaping Community, citizens who wish to vape rather than smoke cigarettes because its much safer, are protesting at Queen's Park on Saturday, December 5th to voice their anger with the manner in which the recently posted regulations for the Electronic Cigarette Act of Bill 45 unfairly treats those who wish to stop smoking tobacco.
People who want to vape rather than smoke cigarettes want the Ontario government to understand that vaping is NOT smoking and should not be regulated without broader consultation with its stakeholders. There are over 500 businesses in the vaping industry across Ontario who employ thousands of quality oriented staff who provide a valuable service for the tens of thousands of Ontarians who are looking for a safer alternative to smoking.
The recently posted regulations from the Associate Minister of Health, which gives generous exemptions to tobacco companies and ignore Shisha, systematically ignores the value of one of the most revolutionary and effective tabacco harm reduction products. In effect, it supports smoking and kills retail businesses, jobs and access to safe educated use of vaping products, at a time when the Government of Ontario will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Smoke Free Ontario – which vapers endorse without condition.
