Media Availability - Catalyst Canada Celebrates International Women's Day With a shout out to award winning workplace initiatives
TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Catalyst Canada, and several of its global member companies, each with an extensive Canadian presence, will mark International Women's Day (IWD) and celebrate its theme, 'The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum,' by sharing their initiatives for expanding opportunities for women and business - initiatives that have changed workplaces, communities, and lives.
While the most recent Catalyst research, FP500 Census of Women Senior Officers and Top Earners, released last week, revealed no significant increase in the representation of women in the senior ranks of Canada's largest companies, Alex Johnston, Executive Director Catalyst Canada, believes celebrating the achievements of successful companies makes a difference to other businesses aspiring to advance women's leadership on the workplace.
This year, three companies - Alcoa, Coca-Cola and Unilever - are being honoured with the annual Catalyst Award which recognizes exceptional initiatives that advance women in the workplace. Each offers a unique story and a strong understanding of the business case for ensuring that women's inclusion and advancement to leadership is a top organization-wide priority.
Media is invited to speak with Ms. Johnston as well as leaders and women at these and other Catalyst member companies. To find out more about this year's award winners: http://www.catalyst.org/media/2013-catalyst-award-honors-global-initiatives-alcoa-inc-coca-cola-company-and-unilever
