Media Availability - Conference Board of Canada Available to Comment on Combating Violent Extremism

OTTAWA, Jan. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Satyamoorthy Kabilan, Director, National Security and Strategic Foresight, The Conference Board of Canada, is available to comment on the developing hostage situations in Eastern Paris and Dammartin-en-Goele, France. The suspects involved may be connected to the shooting of a policewoman in Montrouge yesterday, and the Charlie Hebdo massacre of 12 people on January 7, 2015.

Dr. Kabilan's commentary, Combating Homegrown Violent Extremism, concludes that these acts of terror are a challenge to our core values, which include our freedom of speech. Our strongest stance against terrorism is that we should not be swayed by these violent acts and hold true to our values.
