ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, July 13, 2015 /CNW/ -
WHO: David Morley, UNICEF Canada President and CEO, member of the official Canadian delegation
WHAT: From July 13 to 16, heads of state, donors, non-governmental organizations, corporate leaders, and ministers of finance, foreign affairs and development from governments around the world are gathering in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the Third International Conference on Financing for Development.
David Morley, UNICEF Canada President and CEO, is part of the official Canadian delegation attending this global conference. The Honourable Minister Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, is leading the delegation. This is one of three major global events this year that will set the blueprint for the next 15 years—in addition to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) events in New York in September and the climate conference in Paris in December. David is available for media interviews throughout this week.
David can speak about:
- The role of this conference—if the SDGs are the "what" needs to be done over the next 15 years, this conference is the "how" those goals will be accomplished
- Why strong funding frameworks are essential to ensuring the most vulnerable children are reached in the coming 15 years
- The Global Financing Facility and Canada's role in this innovative fund as one of the first two nations to pledge funds
- Today's event about the Global Partnership and Fund to end violence against children and Canada's role as a champion for child protection
HOW: Interviews available onsite or remotely by phone, video Skype and Facetime
