Media buy auction now open: The Canadian Journalism Foundation auctions ad space in major media
TORONTO, May 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation's (CJF) online auction for prime advertising space in major media outlets is now open. Space in Maclean's, Metro, National Post, The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star are up for bids via the CJF online auction page.
The auction will close June 4 at 8:45 p.m., with the successful bidders announced that same evening at the 17th Annual CJF Awards at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.
"We really appreciate the generosity of the participating media institutions," says Robert Lewis, outgoing chair of the CJF. "Bidding on the advertising space supports our goals of celebrating great journalism and stimulating debate about the news media."

Proceeds from the auction go toward supporting The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF), a not-for-profit organization that promotes excellence in journalism by celebrating outstanding journalistic achievement through an annual awards program; by organizing events that facilitate dialogue among journalists, business people, government officials, academics and students about the role of the media in Canadian society; by supporting journalism websites, J-Source.ca English and ProjetJ.ca (French); and by fostering opportunities for journalism education, training and research.
Lisa LaFlamme, chief anchor and senior editor for CTV National News, will host this year's CJF Awards, the annual gathering of journalists, academics and business leaders to celebrate excellence in journalism.
New awards being presented include the CJF Aboriginal Journalism Fellowship and The Landsberg Award. This year's CJF Tribute will honour a remarkable year for investigative journalism. For the first time, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to a photojournalist, Peter Bregg. .
Other awards to be presented at the event include the Excellence in Journalism Award - which will be awarded to winners in two categories: large/national media and local/regional media - the Greg Clark Award, the Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award, the William Southam Journalism Fellowships and the Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy.
